Wenda at the fourth Rockstart Agrifood Deepdive Week
Published on December 9, 2019
From 2 to 6 December, we at Wenda were in Copenhagen for the fourth Deepdive Week of the Rockstart AgriFood Innovation Program’s first edition.
In this Deepdive Week we focused on Marketing and Product enhancement and valorization. Together with the Rockstart Team – which for Wenda is not just an investor but rather a reliable partner – we engaged in many new activities, such as designing action plans for Marketing, Branding & PR strategies, defining core customers and CRM approach, working on building a great product and testing it using experimentation techniques. Then, we kept working on the key points to drive our growth, which we identified in our previous meetings, analyzing the financial modelling, the management of effective teams, and the sales and outreach strategy.
We started the week participating in a Matching Meetup with a group of business angels from Vækstfonden’s network (Vækstfonden is the Danish State investment fund), we attended a Growth Hacking session led by Rasmus Aaberg, Commercial Director at Growth Tribe Denmark (the first European Growth Academy offering support for growth, marketing and the use of A.I. in business) and we met Rockstart’s core mentors who helped us in the past weeks here in Copenhagen, Mark Spronk e Lui Salemsen.
The Deepdive Week included further activities for us at Wenda: we participated in a workshop with Ilonka Waterdrinker (PR and communication expert) about press releases, analyzing what is PR, what makes for a good story, which are the best tactics to tell it, how to pitch a journalist and which are the do’s and don’ts of PR. With Kaythlin Das, Business Development Manager and responsible for Startup Growth & Partnerships at HubSpot for Startups, we explored the topics of the management of long B2B sales cycles and online acquisition models, analyzing lead conversion and buyer personas. We were also at a workshop conducted by Rutger van Waveren – Head of Growth at Siilo (a messaging app for medical teams) – which was centered on a formula for growth, including three key elements: product, team and distribution.
Mattia Nanetti, Wenda’s co-founder, COO and Head of Go-to-Market and Fundraising, has described the results of this week: “As we have seen in former meetings, the Rockstart team was very open and available to meet all of our requests and necessities. This week was really interesting, we dealt with the topics of marketing and growth in the frameworks of product and market, together with international experts, whose knowledges we managed to tailor on our specific needs.”
Rockstart is an international company which supports and accompanies towards success the best startups operating in different industries, among which AgriFood. In was born in 2011 in Amsterdam as one of the first startup accelerators in Europe, and is specialized in providing access to capitals, markets and expertise, connecting creditable startups with partners, investors, mentors and its own network. AgriFood is the first framework in which Rockstart provides support to startups up until Series B. With the creation of a 15 million € AgriFood fund, Rockstart aims to support startups and provide concrete, unprecedented access to capitals.
For Wenda, this meeting keeps representing a great occasion to accelerate our economic growth and boost our readiness in different business areas, an additional moment to enhance brand internationalization and extend our network. While waiting to return in Copenhagen for the fifth Deepdive Week of the AgriFood Innovation Program, we would like to thank Rockstart and all the people involved in this truly useful experience!
Wenda Platform
We at Wenda, an Italian startup backed by European investors, aim to contribute with our technological innovations to fix some of the issues affecting Food&Beverage actors. We developed a Digital Platform sold Saas with an annual subscription dedicated to helping Retailers to get full cold chain and freshness data visibility, boosting profits and cutting Food Safety management costs.
Our Digital Platform helps to understand and navigate cold chain and freshness data. It acts and adapts on the various supply chain stages, integrating the different traceability hardware and software. From those, the Platform automatically collects and analyzes data to deliver cold chain and freshness insights and statistics to managers in Stores, Distribution Centers and HQ, fostering their cooperation. The Platform is safe, accessible, reliable and scalable, and it offers a host of benefits:
- An overview of integrity analytics and hazard points along which the cold chain risks to break off;
- Supply chain collaboration with differential access levels to journey data, to share the latter real-time with clients, logistics,and quality departments, insurance companies, regulatory bodies;
- Wallet in cloud to upload and share travel papers, temperature and product quality certifications data, for each shipment or storage;
- Universal IoT Platform granted by the integration with different traceability systems and data logger, which are constantly evolving.
Wenda was accelerated by UniCredit, as well as by Maersk, Digital Magics and Intesa Sanpaolo, and has received an investment round by Rockstart, one of the major startup accelerators in Europe. Also, Wenda is supported by a German investor with data science experience, and is developing predictive algorithms to calculate product spoilage probabilities when it is shipped or stored in the warehouse. Furthermore, some prescriptive algorithms are under development: on the basis of the data gathered up to now, they will be able to show the best company decision when particular conditions or events that might disrupt the smooth flow of the product in the supply chain arise.
