Talking about us: Wenda, the Food chain detective

LC Publishing Group is an editorial group, leader in Italy in the digital information concerning Legal&Tax, Finance, Food worlds. Founded in 2011 by Aldo Scaringella, the Group (formerly known as Group Legalcommunity), has constantly developed up to the current name – LC Publishing Group – because of the rebranding process, the culmination of the growth path which has seen the group to widen its array of publications by adding, among others, foodcommunity.it in 2016.

Foodcommunity.it is the Group website dedicated to the Food&Beverage industry. Inaugurated in 2016. the portal aims to describe, through news and insights, the economic scenario and the leaders of the Food&Wine world in Italy and abroad. There is great interest in star chefs and the openings of new restaurants, as well as in Food companies’ and startups’ moves, from multinationals to small producers.

Furthermore, since 2013 the Group publishes MAG, a bi-weekly, in-depth magazine dedicated to the Italian business community. It is completely digital, free and downloadable from the Group’s portals. In each issue, the best lawyers, bankers, entrepreneurs and chefs talk about news and market trends. In the magazine you can find interviews to CEO, lawyers, bankers, advisors, tax consultants and chefs. Sector studies, reports, post-research interviews, awards and events are also available.

In an article, published in September’s second issue (#127) in the column dedicated to startups and focused on Food integrity of Food&Beverage products in the supply chain, Francesca Corradi talked about Wenda and Food Integrity management across all the stages of the supply chain.

She briefly touched upon Wenda’s history from its foundation in 2015, talking about the evolution experienced by the startup across the years, from the first project for the wine industry to our current, enlarged on the whole Food&Beverage supply chain dealing with sensitive or perishable products.

Francesca Corradi went on mentioning the platform created by Wenda to manage the integrity information of travelling products, describing some of its main features and stresing its benefits, among which the end-to-end supply chain visibility increase and the fight against Food waste.
On this latter topic the articles comes to its end, listing some data on Food Waste in Italy and the sections of the supply chain where this problem occurs more often.

This article, housed in a magazine well known in the industry it analyzes, represented a good opportunity to increase Wenda’s dissemination and visibility, at a time in which the interest for Food&Beverage and for topics such as sustainability and innovation grows high in vast sectors of media, politics and the society as a whole.

Wenda Food Integrity Management Hub

We at Wenda, an Italian startup backed by European investors, aim to contribute with our technological innovations to fix some of the issues affecting Food&Beverage actors who carry out temperature-controlled operations. To this end, we deliver Wenda Food Integrity Management Hub, a digital platform sold Saas with an annual subscription dedicated to all the Food&Beverage actors who handle or manage perishable or sensitive products.

The Platform aims to turn supply chain control from a cost center to a competitive edge, managing all the product integrity information (i.e. cold chain, chemical tests, traceability, expiry date, shelf-life) in an advanced, easily accessible way and from a single control point on the web. It is cross-chain and cross-device, easy to implement, quite straightforward to use. Wenda’s Platform delivers:

  • An overview of integrity analytics and hazard points along which the cold chain risks to break off;
  • Differential access levels to journey data, to share the latter real-time with clients, logistics,and quality departments, insurance companies, regulatory bodies;
  • Wallet in cloud to upload and share travel papers, temperature and product quality certifications data, for each shipment or storage;
  • Integration and interoperability with different traceability systems and data logger, which are constantly evolving.

Wenda was accelerated by UniCredit, as well as by Maersk, Digital Magics and Intesa Sanpaolo. Currently, Wenda is in Copenhagen to participate to the AgriFood Program designed by Rockstart, an international company which supports and guides towards success the best startups of different business areas, among which AgriFood. Also, Wenda is supported by a German investor with data science experience, and is developing predictive algorithms to calculate product spoilage probabilities when it is shipped or stored in the warehouse. Furthermore, some prescriptive algorithms are under development: on the basis of the data gathered up to now, they will be able to show the best company decision when particular conditions or events that might disrupt the smooth flow of the product in the supply chain arise.
